About Me

A self taught Bahamian artist, Born in 1959 in Nassau, Bahamas, David began his journey of expression at a very early age. Watching his Dad expound his hobby of oil painting tweaked his interest, and at home as a young boy he began to learn the basic skills of oil painting, laying a foundation for future development. All throughout his school days he would often be approached to assist with various art projects because of his creative talents. David’s love for the beautiful turquoise waters and the outdoors in general was always evident, and this was perhaps in part the reason for him moving to Abaco in 1982. He began a small flooring business in 1990 and throughly enjoyed helping folks design their floors, walls and various projects as they came to him for advice. After the economic downturn in recent years and looking for ways to supplement an income, he developed a new and exciting concept of art. Recently discovering an “out of the box” avenue of expression he began adding ceramic tile, glass and marble to the background of oil paint. This new medium has become an interesting way to express the unique, natural beauty of the Bahamas. With the exception of full mosaic pieces…hand painted bits of glass and tile comprise the subject material for these vivid, (3-D) creations. Each of these works are “one of a kind” and they tell a story in their brilliance and realism. His work is rapidly gaining interest and some have already found homes on the walls of many admirers. His work can be seen at most artist gatherings in the Abacos and are available at The Tile Place, downtown Marsh Harbor.
